The vegetation greenness index (VCI)9 can be combined with temperature drought index (TCI)
to form the Vegetation health index (VHI). VCI focuses on the impact of drought on vegetation
and provides information on the onset, duration and severity of drought. This index compares
the current vegetation and temperature conditions in the latest 16-day period with the long-term
historical values calculated for the period 2000 to present.
