The 23rd ordinary meeting of the Sectoral Council on Lake Victoria Basin (SECOM-LVB) will be held in Kisumu from 12th– 16th May 2025.

The meeting will bring together ministries responsible for Water, Environment and Natural Resources, and Maritime Transport and Communications.

The session for senior officials is scheduled for January 12th and 13th May, while Permanent/Principal Secretaries and Undersecretaries will attend on 14th and 15th May.

The session of Cabinet Secretaries and Ministers will be held on 16th May.

Participants will include representatives from the five East African Community (EAC) Partner States, namely  the Republic of Kenya, Republic of Uganda, Republic of Burundi, Republic of Rwanda, Republic of South Sudan, and the United Republic of Tanzania.

The Sectoral Council on Lake Victoria Basin (SECOM-LVB) is the Governing body of Lake Victoria Basin(LVBC).

It is mandated to provide overarching policy guidance and oversight as outlined in Article 35 of the Protocol for Sustainable Development of the Lake Victoria Basin and Section 8 of the Lake Victoria Basin Commission Act, 2022

The meeting will review the report of the implementation status of previous decisions and directives of the 22nd SECOM-LVB, report of the 11th Joint Regional Policy Steering Committee for LVBC Projects and Programmes, and report of Finance, Administration and Institutional matters.
