New leadership rings in the changes at the Lake Victoria Basin Commission

We are delighted to welcome new Executive Secretary (ES), Dr. Masinde Bwire, and Deputy Executive Secretary (DES), Eng. Coletha Ruhamya, who joined the Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) on the 1st of May 2022.

The two newly appointed leaders were introduced to the 21st LVB Sectoral Council of Ministers Meeting, which was held in Kisumu from 2-7 May 2022. The Sectoral Council of Ministers for the Lake Victoria Basin (SECOM) adopted among others the 4th LVBC Strategic Plan 2021-2026, providing clear strategic directions, priorities, and potential interventions for the new Executive Team. One of the top priority recommendations by the SECOM to the Commission is to accelerate existing projects and programmes and give a boost to resource mobilisation, specifically with global climate financing windows.

Another important directive of the SECOM to the Commission is to develop an instrument for IWRM related data sharing among Partner States in support of the LVB Water Information System, which is currently under development.
