Objective of project:

 

Guarantee an adequate supply of high-quality water for human well-being, livelihoods, ecosystem services, and socioeconomic development.

 

The 3 years field support activity improved water security in the critical national and transboundary watershed of MRB.

 

The activity related to community-based

Interventions at the sub-catchment level with a focus on at least two priority national sub-catchments of Nyangores, Bomet County in Kenya and Mara Wetlands, Mara Region in Tanzania.

 

The project complemented targeted national and regional activities supporting Water Allocation Planning (WAP) and improving governance structures for sustainable transboundary River Basin Management.

 

ACHIEVEMENTS:

The project quantified, among others:

· water availability assessment;

· identified water uses, and

· analyzed environmental flows.

The project is completed Dec 2020

Major Achievements:

· Developed of Water Allocation Planning (WAP) for lower Mara River in Tanzania

· Assessed environmental flows of MRB (Tanzania);

 

Restored catchments and bore holes.
