The Lake Victoria Basin Commission is implementing a Technical Cooperation (TC) Project, funded by the Federal Government of Germany through the German Federal Ministry
for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and GIZ since July 2022.
The support focuses on enhancing the capacities of LVBC by improving the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) framework and strengthening LVBC’s internal capacities, while fostering horizontal cooperation with the Partner States in the Lake Victoria Basin.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
To improve institutional framework conditions for integrated management of transboundary water resources in the East African community.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
i) Enhancing the framework conditions for IWRM promoting sustainable economic use and environmental protection of the EAC water resources,
ii) Strengthening selected core functions at the LVBC, and
iii) Improve horizontal cooperation between the LVBC and key IWRM stakeholders in the partner states including private sector and civil society. The total funding of the project is Euro 5.8 million for three years from January 2022 to December 2024.
