The sixth Mara Day Celebrations held on 15th September 2016 in Tarime, the United Republic of Tanzania stressed effective partnership between States and non-states as a pathway to conservation success. Speeches, exhibitions, songs, poems and other activities were centered on the theme: "Healthy Mara River for Sustainable Development."

The Annual Mara Day celebrated every 15th of September shall be held in Tarime District, the United Republic of Tanzania. The celebration shall be guided by the theme: "Healthy Mara River for Sustainable Development," and it resonates with achieved milestone since the inception and adoption of 15th September as an annual Mara Day Celebration for the two Republics: United Republic of Tanzania and Republic of Kenya.

Lake Victoria Gets $25 million to Improve Navigation on the Lake Victoria

Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) has received $25 worth 2 billion Kenyan shillings for improving transport on Lake Victoria from Africa Development Bank (AfDB).

Dr. Matano Took Over From Dr. Kanangire as LVBC Executive Secretary

Dr. Ally-Said Matano former Programs Officer--Projects Development and Partnerships for Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) took over from Canisius Kanangire who has headed the institution since 2011.

Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) leadership handed over aids to navigation to the Republic of Uganda Friday, 5th August, 2016.

 

The event which took place at Port Bell, Kampala, Uganda was attended by the high ranking government officials, Permanent Secretary, Directors, Commissioners, LVBC Staff among others.

Five Year Strategic Planning

The Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) leadership, Regional programmmes and Project Coordinators and staff are formulating the next strategic plan for 2016-2021. The retreat taking place at Sosa Cottage, Vihiga County the Republic of Kenya, started on July, 12th will end on 14th with clarity of the future LVBC and her stakeholders want by 2021.
