The Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) in partnership with the Ministry of East African Community Affairs, Republic of Kenya, Ministry of Environment & Natural Resources, Ministry of Water and Irrigation, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the County Governments of Narok and Bomet will host the 9TH MARA DAY CELEBRATION from 14th – 15th September, 2020 in Bomet and Narok under the theme of
“Conserved Mara Ecosystem – Our Shared Prosperity” in Swahili translated as “Ikolojia ya Mara iliyotunzwa – Ustawi wetu.”
Every year, Mara Day is marked in accordance with the 10th Sectoral Council of Ministers’ Declaration at a meeting held in Kigali, Rwanda on 4th May 2012 that the celebrations be done every 15th September “Mara Day”, to coincide with the great migration of wildlife from Serengeti National Park in the United Republic of Tanzania to the Maasai-Mara National Game Reserve in the Republic of Kenya. This year’s event will be held semi-virtually due to the global COVID-19 Pandemic that has limited social and public gatherings. Unlike other years, the United Republic of Tanzania will hold parallel events in Butiama, in the United Republic of Tanzania. The celebration will be preceded by a workshop that discusses various topical issues around the Mara and It’s ecosystem. You are hereby invited to join this Event Virtually to be part of the Celebration and to contribute to the dialogue. Please follow the link below to sign up and join this Virtual Event:
