Lake Victoria Basin Aquatic Biodiversity Meta-Database

  Socio-Economics

Different categories of the aquatic biodiversity in the Lake Victoria basin have social economic values. These values are assessed to reflect the benefits and services derived from utilization of the biodiversity resources at community, national, regional and global levels.

The Wetland Departments of the riparian states generate data on magnitudes of wetlands as well as qualitative data on utilisation of their resources. The national environment management authorities of the riparian countries also conduct studies and have data on utilisation of wetland resources.
